  • Half-timber Work - A method of house construction in which the walls are made of timber frames with the openings filled in with brickwork.
  • Hardboard - Low-cost wooden board made of compressed fibre.
  • Hawk - A small board with a handle which is used to hold mortar.
  • Head Plate - The length of wood which forms the top rail of a stud partition.
  • Header - The end or short face of a brick, as it shows in the face of a wall. The long face is called the "stretcher."
  • Hipped Roof - A pitched roof, the end of which is also sloped back, meeting the sides in a pair of hips.
  • Hollow Core Door - A flush door with hardboard or plywood faces glued to a skeleton framework.
